Taalon Games is very proud to officially announce its debut game, “Hellrunner”. This project has been under development for about a year. A playable demo is under construction. A free release will be available within the next couple of months on Steam.
The game will be a story driven survival shooter. Set on the planet of Trappist 1-D, the player must survive intense radiation and electric fields; and, if the elements don’t kill you, the monstrous creatures that live there probably will.
Electricity and nuclear radiation are incorporated into the game like cold weather is incorporated into traditional survival games. Hellrunner offers a novel take on a classic game genre.
You play as, Pan a cyborg who has been “brought out of stasis” to serve the High Stellar Union in reestablishing contact with the researchers at Pisces Station — the main human settlement on the surface on the planet, Trappist 1-D. While not exactly alive, you are close to it. You have reason to believe that should you be successful in your task, you may be fully resurrected.
Nearly a year prior to your reanimation the residents of the station began acting strangely. While most of them still made contact once a month during their scheduled health checks, some seemingly disappeared. As time progressed more and more seemed to vanish. The lead Scientist, Dr. Vincent Charles, assured the scientific directorate of the Thor Mineral Corporation (the company funding his research in the Trappist system) that all was well: it was unreasonable to expect that they all should check in regularly, they were far too busy for that. That was until Earth received a series of disjointed, disturbing transmissions from the Dr. himself; after that all communications went silent …
Catching word of the apparent disaster on the planet, the High Stellar Union, a secretive cult-like organization, lifted you from the depths of a dreamless sleep. They have tasked you with reestablishing contact and collecting all of the available data on the “Trappist Incident.” You must do this secretly and before the corporate thugs from Thor Mineral beat you to it. You will have to manipulate the the decaying technology on Trappist 1-D to accomplish this task. The Union’s motivations elude you, but If you satisfy the Union, then perhaps you will regain your humanity; what is left of it anyway …
But, before you can find out about the horrors that transpired within the station you will have to survive the Hellish biosphere outside of it. Intense ionizing radiation will slowly drain your health; violent electric fields will batter you with lighting strikes; and the animals that infest the planet’s surface are the stuff of nightmares. Not only are they bigger, faster, and stronger than you are: they are also incomparably violent — and you will come to suspect that their actions are driven not by instinct, but by malice.
Good luck!
